The officials agreed that the cooperation between the two countries is at a high level but that there is always room for improvement, especially in the fields of economy, agriculture and tourism. They also stressed that cooperation between the two parliaments’ foreign affairs committees could stand to be intensified.

Milija Miletic has a number of questions about the Slovenian companies in Serbia currently undergoing bankruptcy procedures, which will be the subject of some of the subsequent meetings.

He also added that the municipalities of Svrljig and Sentjernej had signed a Twinning Charter in 2011 and reminded his guest that he had the honour to attend the celebration of St.Jernej (Saint Bartholomew), the day of the Municipality of Sentjernej.

Miletic went on to suggest that the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Slovenia should meet with the Ambassador to exchange views on all the segments of the two countries’ social life.

Vladimir Gasparic quoted Slovenian Prime Minister Miro Cerar who told the citizens of Serbia: “With old friends to new paths”, and Miletic quoted Patriarch Pavle: “Let us be humane”.

The Slovenian Ambassador commended Serbia’s progress to the European Union. He stressed that Serbia has achieved significant economic progress, highlighting the importance of Serbian investments into Slovenia.
