In the course of the meeting, Katarina Rakic highlighted the good relations between the two countries and thanked Argentina for its support of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Rakic pointed out the importance of promoting interparliamentary cooperation which will be intensified via the activities of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Argentina, at the same time commending the initiative to create a friendship group with Serbia at the Argentine Parliament.
The Chargé d’Affairs of the Argentine Embassy in Serbia, Gustavo Alejandro Dzugala, stressed that Argentina and Serbia share a common fight to maintain their respective sovereignty and territorial integrity, considering the problems Argentine has as regards the status of the Islas Malvinas.
The officials agreed that there was room to boost economic cooperation and foreign trade between Serbia and Argentina, as well as intensify the cooperation in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, culture and education. They opined that an exchange of visits between Serbian and Argentine parliamentary delegations would be in both countries' interest.
