Head of National Assembly Standing Delegation to La Francophonie PA at Meeting of the APF Committee on Parliamentary Affairs

The Head of the National Assembly standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) MA Jadranka Jovanovic took part in the meeting of the APF Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held in Podgorica, Montenegro, 24 - 26 April 2024.


The topics of the meeting were parliamentary ethics and the role of parliaments in promoting francophonie, learning French and promoting the values of La Francophonie.

The participants were addressed by Andrija Mandic, Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro, who pointed out that Montenegro had worked hard to prepare for membership in the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie and that this was the first meeting organised by the Parliament of Montenegro. He expressed the hope that the French language will help establish lasting ties between the members and encourage parliamentary cooperation.

In her address, MA Jadranka Jovanovic said that she comes from the Parliament of Serbia, which was recently constituted, after the elections held in December of last year. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia also set up a standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie and she was re-elected as its head. The National Assembly standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie includes four MPs, excellent speakers of French. She went on to say that since the beginning of 2021 the Serbian Parliament has had a Code of Conduct for MPs, and after the last parliamentary elections, the participation of women in the parliament is 38%. She thanked the Parliament of Montenegro for organising the meeting and emphasised that working in the APF committees is very important for the members and that she will encourage parliamentary cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy.

The meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie was attended by delegations of the parliaments of states and regions that are members and associate members of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, and the beginning of the meeting was also attended by students of the bilingual international school from Podgorica.

During the meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie in Podgorica, the Head of the National Assembly standing delegation Jadranka Jovanovic had a bilateral meeting with member of the Moroccan delegation, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development of the Moroccan Parliament, Mohammed Reda Lahmini. She thanked Morocco for its principled stance regarding the status of Kosovo, and emphasised that good cooperation should continue at the parliamentary level. Lahmini called for the improvement of economic cooperation and confirmed that Morocco will always be a friendly country for Serbia.
