Head of National Assembly Standing Delegation to PABSEC at PABSEC Autumn Session

The Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), Irena Vujovic, took part in the PABSEC autumn session held 17-19 December 2013 in Tbilisi, Georgia.


In addition to Serbia, the 42nd PABSEC General Assembly was also attended by the standing delegations of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine, as well as many observers and guests. The meeting was also attended by the Georgian and Moldovan parliament speakers, David Usupashvili and Igor Corman respectively.

The main topic of the General Debate was “Prospects for Agricultural and Rural Development in the Black Sea Region”. The Head of the NARS standing delegation to PABSEC, Irena Vujovic, emphasised the importance of the topic pointing out Serbia’s agricultural potentials, opportunities for investment and cooperation with the other countries of the Black Sea region and the favourable conditions for trade in agricultural products and foodstuffs in the form of preferential access to big markets. Vujovic also pointed out that despite the global economic crisis, the agribusiness sector in Serbia continues to be an attractive field for investment, adding that Serbia is in the process of establishing a quick-response office for investors which would contribute to the improvement of the investment climate in Serbia.

At the 42nd General Assembly, the PABSEC also discussed and adopted recommendations on “Global Climate Change: Causes, Effects and Possible Consequences for the BSEC Member States”, “Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage - Challenge of Linking Cultural and Tourist Routes in the Countries of the Black Sea Region” and “Role of the PABSEC in Enhancement of Cooperation in the Black Sea Region: Challenges and Prospects”.
