Head and Member of Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria and MPs Meet with Algerian Ambassador to Serbia

The Head and a member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria met today, at the National Assembly, with the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Algeria in Belgrade, H.E. Abdelkader Mesdoua.


The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria, Radojko Obradovic said that Serbia and Algeria shared many common issues, adding that there is room for improvement of the two countries’ overall cooperation. Obradovic believes that the activity of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria will promote the two countries’ interparliamentary cooperation.

The Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Algeria in Belgrade, Abdelkader Mesdoua said that the two countries already share historically close ties and excellent cooperation. Ambassador Mesdoua said that a significant number of Serbian companies operate on the Algerian market such as Hidrotehnika, Energoprojekt, Hemofarm, Yugoimport, and that several contracts have been signed on the formation of mixed Serbian-Algerian companies. Ambassador Mesdoua also said that Serbian and Algerian parliamentarians can do a lot in international parliamentary forums to mutually support the interests their respective states.

The member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria, Dragomir Karic highlighted the importance of economic cooperation between the two states, as well as cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, defence, science, technology, pharmaceutical industry, trade, tourism and education, also emphasising the significance of the further development of economic and interparliamentary cooperation.

In the course of the meeting, the officials also discussed the different spheres and modalities of cooperation which could be developed between Serbia and Algeria. Ambassador Mesdoua said it would be very significant if Serbian businessmen took part in Algerian fairs thus establishing important contacts and showcasing the competitiveness of the Serbian economy.

The participants of the meeting were also greeted by the National Assembly Speaker, MA Nebojsa Stefanovic, and in addition to the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Algeria, Radojko Obradovic and Parliamentary Friendship Group member Dragomir Karic, the meeting was attended by the MPs Olgica Batic, Aleksandar Radojevic, Radovan Raicevic, Zoran Pralica, Ivan Karic, Sanda Raskovic Ivic, Milica Radovic, Branislav Blazic, Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Dubravka Filipovski, Igor Becic, Miodrag Nikolic, Marijan Risticevic and Dragan Todorovic.
