Green Parliamentary Group’s Conclusions on Visit to Zlatibor District

In the course of their two-day visit to the Zlatibor district, the members of the informal Green Parliamentary Group visited Priboj, Prijepolje and Nova Varos and inspected the ecological situation in the three municipalities. As part of the parliament’s control, they drew up conclusions to serve as guidelines for future activities, committing themselves to:


  • Monitor the implementation of the Ministry's budget and initiate additional investments in the environmental protection sector, especially the field of water protection and waste management in these municipalities;
  • Work together with the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities (SCTM) on improving these municipalities’ capacities in terms of knowledge and human capital;
  • Promote the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans and provide active support to the Ministry’s activities on the promotion of regional cooperation with the establishment of a permanent dialogue between the MPs and the parliaments of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia;
  • Actively work, together with MPs from Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on improving cooperation between local governments and provide them with support for joint cross-border cooperation projects and competition for European development funds;
  • Through the application of Natura 2000 principles, provide support for the protection and improvement of the work of the unique and important special nature reserve Uvac in the fight against illegal construction, wastewater management and nature protection, and
  • Continue further capacity building of the group members through cooperation with the civil sector, experts, educational institutions and apply examples of good practice of countries with more developed waste management systems.
