Gojkovic with Hessian Minister President and Parliament President
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with the Minister President of the German Federal Province of Hessen Volker Bouffier and the President of the Provincial Parliament Norbert Kartmann.
Gojkovic emphasized the importance of developing parliamentary cooperation in view of the role the parliament plays in strengthening democracy, conducting reform and developing bilateral relations, and also pointed out that there is room to intensify relations between the working bodies tasked with foreign affairs, Euro-integration and culture, especially since Novi Sad was elected the 2021 European Capital of Culture.
Gojkovic briefed the guests on the role the National Assembly plays in the European integration process, and Hessian Minister President Volker Bouffier said he believed the European path to be the right path for Serbia and that the future of Serbia and the entire region is in the European Union. He also endorsed the continued reform processes.
Hessian Parliament President Norbert Kartmann said that the Provincial Parliament also endorses Serbia’s Euro-integration and agreed that parliamentary cooperation between the National Assembly and the Province of Hessen should be intensified.
