Gojkovic and Tsipras: Parliamentary Cooperation Important Segment of Relations
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the two highlighted the traditionally good and friendly relations as an excellent cornerstone for the further development of cooperation.
Gojkovic and Tsipras agreed that parliamentary cooperation plays an important part in the development of relations and urged for a continuation and intensification of dialogue at the parliamentary level, especially after the recent visit of the President of the Hellenic Parliament Nikolaos Voutsis.
Speaking of the two prime ministers’ agreement about the formation of a High Cooperation Council, Gojkovic said that she would be suggesting to the President of the Hellenic Parliament that the two parliaments also set up a parliamentary commission to tackle important issues of mutual interest such as euro-integration, security in light of the dual challenges of migration and terrorism, economy, transportation, tourism and culture.
Gojkovic also thanked Greece for its support of Serbia’s territorial integrity and understanding for its stance on Kosovo-Metohija, as well as the endorsement of Serbia’s European integration.
Tsipras reminded that the Greek people has stood by Serbia at difficult times, and now that Serbia is developing its economy and striving to become an EU member, it supports those efforts.
