Gojkovic Meets with Qatari Parliament Speaker, Signs Memorandum of Understanding

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic met today in Doha with the Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar Ahmed Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud.


On the occasion, the two parliament speakers signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Shura Council of the State of Qatar expected to lend a strong impulse to the further development of parliamentary cooperation and overall bilateral relations.

Gojkovic said that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is an important step that will encourage parliamentary cooperation at the highest level, as well as between working bodies and friendship groups, and intensify the exchange of information and consultations on topics of common interest within regional and international parliamentary organizations.

Gojkovic and Ahmed Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al Mahmoud discussed promoting cooperation between Serbia and the State of Qatar, stating the parliaments’ readiness to contribute to the deepening of relations between the two states.

Gojkovic, who is taking part in the 7th Global Conference of Parliamentarians Against Corruption in Doha, thanked the Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar for his personal invitation to the conference, an important event for the achievement of global cooperation in the fight against corruption.

Gojkovic thanked the Speaker of the Shura Council for heading the Qatari delegation at the 141st IPU Assembly in Belgrade in October.

Gojkovic invited the Speaker of the Shura Council to an official visit to the Republic of Serbia next year to help further the two countries’ relations.
