Gojkovic underlined the importance of the timing of the EU Commissioner’s visit to Serbia – on the eve of the intergovernmental conference in Brussels on 14 December, where the first negotiation chapters are expected to be opened, based on the European Commission’s positive report.

The Serbian Assembly Speaker said that opening the first negotiation chapters would send Serbia the message that its reforms are following the right course.

Hahn highlighted the significance of these reforms, saying that they are important for the modernisation of Serbia and the welfare of its citizens.

Gojkovic and Hahn emphasised the importance of the parliaments’ role in the regional cooperation conducted within the Euro-integration process.

After the meeting with Speaker Gojkovic, Hahn addressed the MPs at a special Assembly sitting.
