The Environmental Protection Committee held its fourteenth sitting on 30 November. The sitting was chaired by the Committee Chairman, Cedomir Jovanovic. The sitting was attended by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Dr Miladin Avramov, Head of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Environmental Inspection, Ljiljana Stanojevic and associates, Secretary of the City of Pancevo Secretariat for Environment Olga Sipovac and the Provincial Secretary for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development Dr Slobodan Puzovic.

The Committee members discussed the current environmental conditions and pollution problems in Pancevo.

Based on the information revealed at the sitting, Cedomir Jovanovic, Environmental Protection Committee Chairman proposed that the Committee wait for the report of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning Task Group monitoring the environmental conditions and realisation of action plans and projects regarding the resolution of environmental problems in Pancevo, which is to meet on Tuesday, 1 December 2009, with the representatives of the provincial and city administration, as well as representatives of the Southern industrial zone in Pancevo.

In addition to the Task Group’s report, the Committee shall also discuss the information and monthly reports of the monitoring system in Pancevo in 2009, surveillance inspection report, report of the City Institute of Public Health and the last action plan of the Ministry so as to compare results, gain an objective overview of the situation and analyse the possibilities for preventive action in order to avoid multiple excesses of pollutant concentration in the air.
