First Sitting of the Subcommittee on Youth and Sports

At the sitting held on 27 April 2021, the members of Subcommittee on Youth and Sports were briefed on the reasons for the amendment and modification of the Law on Prevention of Doping in Sports

The sitting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports - State Secretary Milan Savic and Assistant Minister Darko Udovicic, as well as the director of the Anti-Doping Agency of Serbia, Dr Milica Vukasinovic Vesic and associates.

Assistant Minister Darko Udovicic said that the goal of the Ministry of Youth and Sport is zero tolerance for doping in sports and protection of athletes, as well as holding sports competitions in accordance with sporting rules. He said that the existing anti-doping Law, in force since 2014, has been a big step forward in the prevention of doping sports. Udovicic praised the work of the Anti-Doping Agency which had organized congresses, numerous seminars and trainings on this important topic, both for athletes and for school-age children.

The reason for the amendment of the Law on Prevention of Doping in Sports is the World Anti-Doping Code, which the Republic of Serbia is a signatory of, entering into force on 1 January 2021, said Udovicic, which led to the need to harmonize the existing Law with it. He proceeded to present, in detail, the most significant proposed legal changes to the members of the Subcommittee.

The sitting was chaired by Subcommittee Chairman Goran Spasojevic, and attended by the following Subcommittee members and deputy members: Slobodan Alavanja, Natasa Jovanovic, Bratislav Jugovic, Nikola Lazic and MP Ana Miljanic.
