First Deputy Speaker of the Finnish Parliament visits National Assembly

The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, today met the First Deputy Speaker of the Finnish Parliament, Markku Koski, in Belgrade.

Both officials expressed their pleasure at the establishment of co-operation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the Parliament of Finland, especially stressing the importance of co-operation of both parliaments’ European integration committees, and of the conveyance of Finland’s experiences for Serbia’s process of EU accession.

Mr Markovic acquainted Mr Koski of the results of the National Assembly’s activities, underlining that the National Assembly would meet its obligations for negotiations on signing the Stabilisation and Association Agreement before negotiations start.

Mr Markovic and Mr Koski agreed that conditions for Finnish investment in Serbia were improving, and expressed their conviction that this mode of co-operation would intensify in the future. In addition to investment in industry, new possibilities for investment in spa tourism received special attention.

The meeting between the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the First Deputy Speaker of the Finnish Parliament was attended by the Secretary General of the Finnish Parliament, Kaijo Koivukangas, Parliamentary International Relations Advisor Kari Salo, and the Finnish ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro, Anna Maia-Korpi.
