Exhibition Dedicated to Mileva Maric Einstein Opened

To mark 150 years since the birth of Mileva Maric Einstein, the National Assembly House is hosting an exhibition at the initiative of academician Prof. Dr Svetlana Mitic, president of the Austrian-Serbian Cultural Society “Wilhelmina Mina Karadzic” from Vienna, organised with the support of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region.

The attendees were welcomed by the Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Dragan Stanojevic who stressed that the exhibition is one in a series of activities the Committee is realising in cooperation with many institutions and individuals, adding that similar initiatives will continue in the coming period.

“This exhibition has not been organised only to mark the important jubilee, it is also an invitation to better understand the cultural and scientific heritage of Mileva Maric Einstein and maintain the ties between Serbia and our diaspora and the remarkable people descended from these areas who had left an indelible mark in world history,” said Stanojevic.

He was extended special gratitude to academician Prof. Dr Svetlana Mitic, author of a book on Mileva Maric Einstein, whose research proved to be an immeasurable contribution to shedding light on the life and work of this great scientist.

On behalf of the Committee, Stanojevic presented the Belgrade Mathematical Grammar School with a bust of Mileva Maric Einstein, with a message of confidence in young people, knowledge and the future.

"Let this memorial be a permanent reminder to students that curiosity, perseverance, and dedication to science are values that transcend time and borders," stressed Stanojevic, officially opening the exhibition dedicated to the great Serbian scientist.

Academician Prof. Dr Svetlana Mitic announced that, after Belgrade, the exhibition will also be presented at the Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in Austria, under the patronage of Ambassador Marko Blagojevic, and then at the Mathematical Grammar School, as well as at the Serbian Royal Academy of Innovative Sciences.

The attendees were also addressed by Committee members MA Jadranka Jovanovic, and Radovan Tvrdisic, as well as academic sculptor Ljubisa Mancic, the author of the bust of Mileva Maric Einstein. Ambassador Ljiljana Niksic also attended the opening.
