European Integration Committee Member Vesna Markovic at International Day of Democracy at European Parliament

The European Parliament is celebrating 18 September, International Day of Democracy, with a conference in Brussels entitled “EU leadership for democracy”.

The event was organized by the European Parliament’s Democracy Support and Election Coordination Group as part of the EP’s 2018 democracy support programme. The attending will be addressed by keynote speakers EP President Antonio Tajani and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, as well as members of the European Parliament and representatives of the European Commission.

The conference is attended by members of the European Parliament and of the national parliaments of the EU member states, as well as members of the national parliaments of the candidate countries. In a number of panel discussions they will deliberate on EU leadership in light of current challenges, inclusion in politics, the role of high technologies in promoting democracy and human rights and ways to advance democracy through female leadership.
