Education Against Ignorance, Sanctions Against Violence

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today Mirjana Bogdanovic and Boris Milicevic of the Gay Straight Alliance.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today Mirjana Bogdanovic and Boris Milicevic of the Gay Straight Alliance.

Bogdanovic and Milicevic briefed the Assembly Speaker on the organisation’s next steps in improving the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons in Serbia, such as the strategy to decrease violence and discrimination and promote freedom of assembly.

The Assembly Speaker repeated her position that she would personally support their efforts to eliminate discrimination and condemn violence against opponents.

“We should fight ignorance with education, and violence with sanctions”, the Assembly Speaker said.
