The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Dr Vladimir Orlic met today in Kigali, under the auspices of the 145th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia. The officials pointed out that the bilateral relations between the two countries are good and traditionally friendly.
At the very beginning of the meeting, Dr Orlic took the opportunity to thank Georgia for its principled position of non-recognition of so-called "Kosovo" and support during the fake state's attempts to become a member of international organizations. The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia pointed out that the two countries share the same views and jointly represent and respect international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity of every country in the world. He added that on Georgia's European path, he hopes Serbia would lend its support and be ready to share its experiences concerning European integration.
In the course of the meeting, the officials emphasized their willingness to improve cooperation, especially at the economic level, as well as their interest in establishing a regular high and top level political dialogue.
Dr Orlic expressed his satisfaction with the parliamentary cooperation so far, stressing his readiness to strengthen it further at the bilateral and multilateral level. "With special care and satisfaction, we express our readiness to share our experiences concerning European integration. You can count on Serbia’s full support in this regard," said the Serbian Assembly Speaker.
The meeting also touched on cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy, construction, tourism, as well as in the IT sector.
