Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Delegation in Bitola

To mark the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag, at the invitation of the President of the Community of Serbs in Macedonia c.c. Bitola, Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski, Chairperson of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, and Committee member Sanja Lakic, visited Bitola, Republic of North Macedonia, 15-16 September 2022.

The representatives of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region took part in the conference “Serbs in Macedonia and Serbia”. In her address, Committee Chairperson Milica Djurdjevic Stamenkovski highlighted the importance of having gatherings like that one, drawing attention to the need to open more schools teaching in the Serbian language, the importance of maintaining the Serbian cultural heritage in the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as the need to renovate monuments and memorial ossuaries.

In the course of the visit, the representatives of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region paid respects to the glorious ancestors at the Serbian military cemetery in Bitola for their heroic deeds and sacrifice for freedom of the fatherland, marking the 104th anniversary of the breakthrough of the Salonika Front.
