Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Committee Chairman to Visit Slovenia
The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Dr Janko Veselinovic will be visiting the representatives of the Serbian community in Slovenia, 13-15 March 2015.
At the invitation of the Alliance of Serbian Associations of Slovenia, Dr Janko Veselinovic will visit Ljubljana to discuss the position of the Serbian community which has still not been granted the status of national minority in Slovenia.
The visit programme includes meetings with the representatives of Serbian associations in Slovenia and representatives of the executive power in the Republic of Slovenia, MEP Tanja Fajon, Chairman of the Slovenian Parliament’s Committee on Culture Dr Dragan Matic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and President of the Slovenian Government Council for Ethnic Communities and Former SFRY Nations’ Issues Anton Persak and the Director of the Slovenian Public Fund for Cultural Activities MA Igor Tersar.
The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region Dr Janko Veselinovic will try to use the meetings with the Slovenian officials to find solutions and find common ground as regards the status of Serbs in Slovenia.
The visit programme also includes attendance to a Solemn Academy.
