Dialogue and Cooperation Key to Adressing Open Issues
National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic is taking part in the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of Council of Europe Countries in Oslo, gathering 40 parliament presidents this year, among them the assembly presidents of Germany, Austria, UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Greece, the Netherlands and Poland.
Saying that modern Europe faces the problems of economic crisis and failing support for the European project, Gojkovic stressed that Serbia’s experience shows that the best way to tackle these modern challenges is to intensify international cooperation and the integration process.
The Parliament Speaker pointed out that the best way to protect people and their rights is to strengthen the rule of law, political and economic cooperation and adhere to dialogue and compromise which is the best method for achieving long-lasting and sustainable solutions to all of today’s Europe’s open issues.
“Serbia is dedicated to preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all states, abiding by international law. We are ready to put the good international relations we so devotedly cultivate to good use and address the open issues”, said Gojkovic.
The National Assembly Speaker stressed that Serbia is committed to reform, adding that the Serbian Assembly has reached a consensus on the country’s European integration priorities.
“Serbia is dedicated to these tasks and they are a big responsibility of our mandate”, stressed Gojkovic.
Gojkovic also laid a wreath at the Memorial to Yugoslav WWII internees in Oslo.
