Delegation of South Korean Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia Visits National Assembly

A delegation of the South Korean Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia paid a visit to the National Assembly to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Korea.


On the occasion, the Korean parliamentary delegation headed by Shin Ki-nam, Head of the PFG with Serbia, met, separately, with the Head and members of the National Assembly’s Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Republic of Korea and the Chairperson and members of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

In the meeting with the Korean parliamentary delegation, the Head of the PFG with the Republic of Korea, Dr Ljubica Mrdakovic Todorovic stressed that Serbia and the Republic of Korea are friendly countries with many a similarity despite their geographical distance. The members of the two parliamentary friendship groups emphasised the importance of boosting interparliamentary cooperation and deepening cooperation in the fields of economy, culture, education and healthcare between the two countries. They also mentioned the notable presence of Korean companies in Serbia, adding that the opening of a Samsun production line in Serbia would greatly contribute to the two countries’ economic cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic, Milan Petric, Velikna Tosic and Mirko Cikiriz, members of the PFG with the Republic of Korea.

In the meeting with the delegation of the South Korean Parliamentary Friendship Group with Serbia, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairperson Aleksandra Djurovic underlined the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and the need to intensify interparliamentary cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Korea. The Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee said that EU membership and strengthening regional cooperation and good-neighbourly relations are Serbia’s foreign policy priorities. Speaking of legislation, the Republic of Serbia and the National Assembly are working on the adoption of reform laws that would ensure a favourable economic environment for foreign investors, said Djurovic.
In the course of the meeting the parliamentarians agreed that there is room to further economic and cultural cooperation and that the South Korean experience in economic reform and development are very important for Serbia.
The meeting was attended by Committee Deputy Chairperson Dr Dijana Vukomanovic and Committee members Zarko Obradovic, Marija Obradovic and Dr Aleksandra Tomic, as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Serbia Lee Dohoon.
