Danish Parliament Speaker Visits Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the Kingdom of Denmark Parliament Speaker Thor Pedersen, in official visit to Serbia at the Serbian Parliament Speaker’s invitation, from 31 October to 2 November 2010.The two Speakers signed an Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agreement between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark which will, according to them, give a special impulse to the improvement of cooperation between Serbia and Denmark.



The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the Kingdom of Denmark Parliament Speaker Thor Pedersen, in official visit to Serbia at the Serbian Parliament Speaker’s invitation, from 31 October to 2 November 2010.

The two Speakers signed an Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agreement between the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Parliament of the Kingdom of Denmark which will, according to them, give a special impulse to the improvement of cooperation between Serbia and Denmark.

Pedersen said that Denmark is Serbia’s big friend who fully supports its European integration and to that end commended the Serbian Parliament which had done considerable work this year on harmonising Serbian and European legislation.

Pedersen informed the Speaker that the Danish Parliament would ratify the SAA with Serbia by the end of the year.

He added that supporting new democracies was one of Denmark’s priorities and expressed hope that the two countries would improve and strengthen close relations.

Djukic-Dejanovic thanked Denmark for assisting Serbia’s efforts to become an EU member. She added that the signing of the Parliamentary Cooperation Agreement would intensify the cooperation between all parliamentary bodies.
