Dacic at Public Hearing on Draft Law on Electronic Invoicing

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic spoke at the public hearing on the Draft Law on Electronic Invoicing, stressing that he was convinced, from previous public hearing experience, that some uncertainties would be clarified in today's discussion and these new regulations would be transparently brought closer to everyone who will be affected by them in the future.

THE FOLLOWING IS THE SPEECH OF THE SPEAKER OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA IN ITS ENTIRETY:

"Dear Mrs. Tomic,

Fellow Members of Parliament,

Dear guests,

I would like to welcome you to this public hearing, organised by the Committee on Finance State Budget and Control of Public Spending, on the Draft Law on Electronic Invoicing currently in Assembly procedure. I would like to thank the Committee for the initiative and you who responded to the invitation to this public hearing, which is now becoming a good custom in the National Assembly whenever it gets a new legislative proposal.

In this form, not only can we consider all important legislative proposals expertly and in more detail, but also help the MPs decide with even more competence on the regulations that are in front of them. I am convinced that at today's public hearing, we will present this important matter in the best way to the professional public which will participate in the application of the future law.

We have before us an important legislative proposal, which will primarily facilitate the daily work of citizens, and especially the economy, save time and reduce business costs. This is one of the regulations with which we take an important step forward in the digitalisation process and keep pace with the latest global business trends.

There is no doubt that the new law will strengthen the transaction security, as well as data protection, all in all, it will make a large segment of the business sphere faster, safer and cheaper.

This legislative proposal also has special importance for Serbia as it will harmonise the national regulations in this area with the directives of the European Union, and is in that sense an important step forward in terms of European integration.

Judging by my previous experience with public hearings on other legislative proposals, I am convinced that some uncertainties will be clarified in today's discussion and these new regulations will be transparently brought closer to everyone who will be affected by them in the future.

I wish you success and once again I want to remind you that I will continue to be open to all of your initiatives.

Thank you!"
