Dacic and Lundin: Bilateral Relations between Serbia and Sweden Very Good

Today, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden Jan Lundin.

National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic declared the bilateral relations between Serbia and Sweden very good and expressed readiness to continue working on their improvement in his current position, through parliamentary diplomacy. He went on to add that Serbia’s ample diaspora in Sweden also contributes to the understanding and closeness between the two countries.

Ambassador Lundin agreed that relations are good and took the opportunity to once again thank Serbia for its assistance in repatriating Swedish citizens at the beginning of the pandemic.

At Ambassador Lundin’s question, National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic informed the guest about the National Assembly’s activities, the constitutional amendments concerning the judiciary and the election of judges, as well as the procedure for Constitutional amendment.

He also discussed the plans to continue the inter-party dialogue.

In the course of the meeting, the officials discussed the possibilities for further improvement of the cooperation between the two parliaments, both through an exchange of visits of the heads of parliament, and continuation of cooperation between the parliamentary committees. They agreed that a visit by the Speaker of Swedish Parliament Andreas Norlen should be realised soon.
