Dacic Meets with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Grushko.

Grushko conveyed the cordial greetings of the Russian leadership, stressing that National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic’s recent visit to the Russian Federation was very successful and gave new momentum to the strengthening of the two countries’ already very high-level bilateral relations.

The National Assembly Speaker expressed satisfaction with the very good and constructive talks he had in Moscow and St. Petersburg, both with the Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairperson of the Russian Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, as well as with his former colleagues Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov.

The officials agreed that the good political relations should be used to further and strengthen economic cooperation. Dacic and Grushko stressed that the cooperation in the production of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Serbia gives a special kind of contribution to the strengthening of the relations between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Grushko informed his host about the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Joseph Biden, held in Geneva two days ago.

Ivica Dacic opined that direct talks are very important, hoping that this meeting would contribute to eliminating misunderstandings and easing tensions between Russia and the US.
