Dacic: Serbia Attaches Great Importance to the Activities of the Council of Europe
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with the Head of Council of Europe Office in Belgrade Tobias Flessenkemper.
Tobias Flessenkemper congratulated the National Assembly Speaker on the election and wished him taking part in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the European Convention on Human Rights. He conveyed the readiness of the Council of Europe and its Mission in Belgrade to continue and strengthen the cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.
National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic thanked the guest and, stressing that Serbia attaches special importance to the activities of the Council of Europe, informed him how glad he was to be heading the parliament’s standing delegation to the Council of Europe in the coming period, emphasizing that the Serbian delegation would strive to contribute to the efficient work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe through its active participation.
In the course of the meeting, the officials also assessed the possibilities of future cooperation between the National Assembly and the Council of Europe Mission in Belgrade through the intensification of the dialogue with the parliamentary committees and members of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Council of Europe. National Assembly Speaker Ivica Dacic expressed his readiness to support the cooperation programmes, as well as personally contribute to the improvement of the overall cooperation between the Council of Europe and the Republic of Serbia.
