Cotric at IAO Secretariat Meeting in Athens

The Head of the standing delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) Aleksandar Cotric took part in the meeting of the IAO International Secretariat, Committee Chairpersons and Rapporteurs to be held 13 – 16 November June in Athens, Greece.

Stressing that the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia has been member of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy for 25 years now, in his address Cotric praised the work and contributions of the international organization. Serbia fully supports the leadership of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy and its efforts to preserve and promote the unity of Orthodox countries and nations. “Serbia has always, in the past and present, sought allies among Orthodox countries and nations, primarily Russia and Greece”, said Cotric.

The Head of the Serbian delegation said that in its history the Serbian Orthodox Church has had two schisms which were a painful experience and appealed to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy to, as a political and parliamentary organization, help the Orthodox churches resolve their disagreements in the spirit of unity and understanding.

The participants were also addressed by the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas.
