Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly Prof. Dr Dragoljub Micunovic believes that, after the PACE members vote on Dick Marty’s report and adopt the Resolution, the investigation into the illicit organ trade in Kosovo-Metohija will be continued.

In today’s meeting with a delegation of the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons from Kosovo-Metohija he pointed out that he did not expect that anyone in the PACE could generate any significant number of members who would oppose the adoption of the Resolution or the further investigation of the allegations contained in rapporteur Dick Marty’s report on the inhuman treatment of people and illicit trafficking in human organs in Kosovo. Micunovic opined that the report and Resolution make it possible to continue the investigation into the crimes which would oblige the Council of Europe member states and the international community to cooperate in the matter, as well as UNMIK, KFOR and the relevant authorities to complete the investigation so as to discover those who organised and ordered the crimes. Micunovic restated that at the First PACE Session in 2011 the National Assembly’s delegation would urge support for the Resolution, as well as against its possible alteration. Micunovic briefly explained to the delegation of the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons form Kosovo-Metohija, the PACE debate and adoption procedure of the report, deeming that the topic would generate great interest in the PACE members to submit amendments and debate the issue.

The Association representatives presented to the NARS delegation head the activities they had undertaken in the past 12 years in order to find out the truth about the kidnapped and missing from Kosovo-Metohija. Association President Verica Tomanovic expects the truth to be told at the PACE about the deaths of innocent civilians in Kosovo who defended the territory they lived in with their lives and requested from the National Assembly delegation that its deputies at the PACE present a unified front and condemn the crimes in Kosovo-Metohija.

National Assembly Secretary General and President of the Serbian Government’s Commission for Missing Persons Veljko Odalovic stated that all the parliamentary groups at the National Assembly have a vested interest in the matter, adding that for the first time there is a document that would enable the investigation into the crimes in Kosovo-Metohija. He declared Dick Marty’s report comprehensive, adding that it provides a good basis for further investigation, and that the Association’s documents and records would prove very important and helpful.
