The Chairman of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues Dr Aleksandar Martinovic met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Austrian Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Johannes Eigner
Speaking of the Government’s strategic goals, Dr Aleksandar Martinovic stressed that its priorities for the immediate future were addressing the economic problems in the country, attracting domestic and foreign investment and public sector reform. He also added that, as far as Serbia’s European Union accession and legislative harmonisation are concerned, all the political parties at the National Assembly have reached a consensus.
Martinovic informed the Ambassador about the legislative procedure and the work and scope of the Committee on Constitutional and Legislative Issues.
The Austrian Ambassador was particularly interested in how laws are passed by urgent procedure, the appointment of judges and the constitutional reform in Serbia.
The meeting also touched on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, with Dr Aleksandar Martinovic stressing that the legal status of Kosovo-Metohija and the issue of missing Serbs needed to be resolved and the life for all the citizens of Kosovo-Metohija should be normalised.
