Constitutional Court Judges Take Oath of Office at National Assembly
The judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia elected at the National Assembly Session on 16 December 2016, and those appointed by the President of the Republic Tomislav Nikolic took the oath of office today, at the National Assembly, before Parliament Speaker Maja Gojkovic.
The following new judges of the Constitutional Court took the oath of office: Vesna Ilic Prelic, Tatjana Babic, Tamac Korhec, Dragana Kolaric, Tijana Surlan, Snezana Markovic, Milan Skulic, Miroslav Nikolic and Jovan Ciric.
“I solemnly swear to abide by the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Serbia in my work and to perform my duty honourably, conscientiously and impartially”, is the text of the oath taken by the new judges of the Constitutional Court.
Congratulating the new Constitutional Court judges, Gojkovic said that she believed they would arbitrate independently and without bias, in line with the law and Constitution, following their conscience, and thus ensure a just trial for everyone.
“I believe that in the course of your term of office you will greatly contribute to the continued reform of the judicial system, aimed at creating an independent, modern and efficient judiciary and promoting the rule of law in its entirety”, said Gojkovic.
Besides the Constitutional Court judges, judges elected to judicial office for the first time at the National Assembly Session of 16 December, Nenad Djukic and Darko Raskovic, also took the oath of office.
The oath-taking ceremony was also attended by the President of the High Judicial Council Dragomir Milojevic, Chairman of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government Petar Petrovic, National Assembly Secretary General Svetislava Bulajic and representatives of the Constitutional Court of Serbia.
