Today at the National Assembly House, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, opened the traditional children’s event of Chalk Drawing from the Imagination.

As the patron of this, eighth traditional manifestation, the Speaker greeted children from all over Serbia at the Great Hall of the National Assembly House, expressing her pleasure at seeing the National Assembly House open for children, particularly in October, the month when Children’s Week is commemorated. The Speaker was pleased that the children had brought a message to the deputies in the form of a Bill with no articles or paragraphs and promised to pass laws that would provide them with a carefree childhood. She encouraged the children from Belgrade, the Russian School, Nis, Odzaci, Strpce, Republic of Srpska and Macedonia to play, animate each other, accept differences, rules of the game and healthy prestige and let their imagination reign free today and write creative messages for the deputies.

Following the ceremonial programme, the participants of the event drew and wrote messages for the adults in multicoloured chalk on the plaza in front of the National Assembly House.

The event Chalk Drawing from the Imagination is part of Children’s Week, organised by Friends of the Children of Palilula, with the cooperation of Friends of the Children of Belgrade, lasting from 5 to 11 October and gathering pre-school, elementary and high school children from all over Serbia and the region every year.
