41st General Assembly of Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Economic Cooperation Held in Sofia

The Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC), Predrag Markovic took part in the organisation’s 41st General Assembly, held from 9 to 11 July 2013, in Sofia.


The central topic of the 41st General Assembly was economic cooperation among the countries of the Black Sea region in the field of tourism. The Serbian delegation’s participation was especially important in view of the fact that the next meeting of the Cultural, Educational and Social Affairs Committee will be held in Belgrade on 24 and 25 September with the topic “Material and immaterial cultural heritage – challenges in connecting cultural and tourist routes of the countries of the Black Sea region”, with the Head of the Serbian delegation Predrag Markovic as rapporteur.

Mihail Mikov, PABSEC President and President of the Bulgarian Parliament, Rosen Plevneliev, President of Bulgaria, and Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the Council of Europe PA, spoke at the opening ceremony which also included an address read on the behalf of Edward Nalbandian, Armenian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Chairman-In-Office of BSEC. At the session the Assembly elected new PABSEC Vice-Presidents and adopted the recommendations and reports from the committees’ spring meetings. In the course of the session the National Assembly’s delegation realised many bilateral meetings with other delegations.

On the occasion of the Parliamentary Assembly’s 20th anniversary, the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to PABSEC,Predrag Markovic was awarded a special medal by PABSEC President Mihail Mikov, for his contributions to the Parliamentary Assembly in the previous period.
