36th Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 11 December, the members of the Culture and Information Committee debated the Bill modifying the Law on Public Media Services, submitted by the Government, in detail.


Before commencing the proceedings, at the proposal of Committee member Dusica Stojkovic, the agenda was expanded to include one more item – reviewing the complaint to the decision-making process concerning the candidate list for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media submitted on the behalf of NGOs.

The Government and the Committee accepted none of the 11 amendments submitted to the Bill modifying the Law on Public Media Services.

The Committee proceeded to review the complaint to the decision-making process concerning the candidate list for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media submitted on the behalf of NGOs, conducted at the meeting of representatives of associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children, held on 10 December. Following a brief debate the Committee members accepted the proposal of Committee member Dusica Stojkovic to schedule a new meeting of representatives of the associations dealing with freedom of expression and the protection of children which had nominated candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media and vote again on the proposal of candidates for members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media submitted on the behalf of NGOs, and that the representatives of the associations be forwarded the necessary documentation.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Vesna Marjanovic and attended by Committee members Aleksandar Jugovic, Nenad Milosavljevic, Srdjan Dragojevic, Dusica Stojkovic, Nebojsa Tatomir, Mira Petrovic, Branka Karavidic, Milorad Cvetanovic, Sanja Nikolic, Nenad Nikolic, Milena Turk, Jelena Mijatovic and Mirjana Andric, as well as MP Dr Janko Veselinovic.
