31st Sitting of the Foreign Affairs Committee

At the sitting held on 22 January, the Foreign Affairs Committee members granted consent for the realisation of the visit by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Defence and Security Committee to Belgrade and Pristina in March 2014.


The Committee members also adopted the reports on visits and parliamentary and all other contacts realised in the previous period.
In the course of the sitting, the Committee also noted the modification to the composition of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Iran and Parliamentary Friendship Group with Azerbaijan and elected MP Irena Vujovic new Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Azerbaijan.
At the sitting, the Committee also discussed and adopted the Bill on the Confirmation of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Mongolia on Mutual Visa Abolition, elaborated by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Dragan Momcilovic.
The Committee members went on to conduct an interview with the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Dragan Mraovic, before deployment to diplomatic duty. Ambassador Mraovic highlighted the importance of Ethiopia as the seat of the African Union. He also reminded of the traditionally good relations between Serbia and Ethiopia pointing out the need to promote economic relations between the two countries.
The Committee proceeded to decide to discuss the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Interior as regards the EU mechanism for the abolition of the visa-free regime, at the next sitting.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Milos Aligrudic.
