The Committee Chairperson said that the Committee had received a great many requests for public hearings and topical sittings.

The Committee decided to hold a sitting in response to the request of the Youth with Disabilities Forum on 25 November dedicated, among other things, to the results of the research on the conditions in housing institutions for people with disabilities and support for the employment of young people with disabilities.

The Committee also decided to hold a joint sitting with the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality on 3 December – International Day of Persons with Disabilities and a public hearing on 10 December at the request of the Network of Organisations for Children to discuss social welfare payments to families with many children.

They also decided to dedicate a sitting, in the second half of December, to foster care, at the request of the Association of Foster Parents.

The Committee Chairperson announced that a group of Committee members and the Working Group monitoring the implementation of the Labour Law will visit a number of social welfare centres and labour inspections in the same towns to test in the field the readiness of the former to handle the challenges of the migrant crisis and the housing of unaccompanied migrant children, and of the latter to implement the provisions of the Labour Law.
