22nd Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 26 November, the members of the Culture and Information Committee considered, in principle, the Bill amending the Law on Temporary Regulation of Payment of Fees for the Public Media Service, submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by MA Mirjana Filipovic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Mining and Energy which is in charge of the fee since it is collected via the electric bill. She said that the suggestion is to extend the fee to 2020 and raise it to 220 RSD to ensure the adequate operation of the public services.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and the Media Aleksandar Gajovic said that the amount of the fee had been proposed by the executive boards of the two public media services in Serbia – RTV and RTS and in the last four years it was 150 RSD, with the suggestion being now to raise it to 220 RSD.

Following a debate the Committee members decided to propose that the National Assembly accept the Bill amending the Law on Temporary Regulation of Payment of Fees for the Public Media Service.
