19th Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee

After the completion of the sitting of the Defence and Internal Affairs Committee, Committee on Kosovo-Metohija and the Security Services Control Committee, closed to the public, the members of the committees issued the following joint statement:

“The committees noted that the current situation in Kosovo-Metohija is fraught with challenges and dangers prone to incidents caused by the provisional institutions and Albanian extremists.

The Serbian people cannot fully enjoy personal security and that of their property, freedom of movement or settlement, for which the provisional institutions of self-government and the international presence in Kosovo-Metohija are fully responsible.

In was noted that Pristina will in the coming period strive to create the conditions for the continued engagement of its special forces in the north of Kosovo.

All three committees severely condemn the brutal violence of the special forces in the north of Kosovo on 26 March 2018 against the Serbian people and the illegal arrest of the Director of the Office for Kosovo Metohija Marko Djuric.

We insist that the provisional institutions of self-government in Kosovo-Metohija dedicate themselves to dialogue, building stability, maintaining peace and creating the conditions guaranteeing the safety of all the people in Kosovo-Metohija regardless of their nationality.

We insist that the international forces of KFOR and EULEX, in line with their mandate, immediately create the conditions guaranteeing the safety of the Serbian people, freedom of movement and work.

The committees fully support the efforts of the Serbian people in Kosovo-Metohija to survive in Kosovo-Metohija and advise them that that they are not alone, that they are protected by the state of Serbia which will always stand by its people.

We fully support the efforts of President Aleksandar Vucic and the Government of the Republic of Serbia to protect the people in Kosovo-Metohija and secure peace and stability in the southern province.”
