19th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government

At the sitting held on 25 February, the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government considered, in principle, the Bill amending the Law on Public Notaries, submitted by the Government.

Minister of Justice and Public Administration Nikola Selakovic said that not enough people have passed the public notary exam and the proposed amendments to the Law on Public Notaries primarily relate to the postponement of its implementation until 1 March 2014.

In the ensuing debate, the Committee members discussed the need to postpone the enforcement of said Law, asked how many candidates have passed the public notary exam, and about the composition of the examination commission and the envisaged possibility to establish several examination commissions.

Following the debate, the Committee adopted the Bill amending the Law on Public Notaries, in principle, by a majority of votes.

Committee Chairman Petar Petrovic went on to inform the Committee members that he had established a Working Group to review the civic petitions addressed to the Committee, comprising: Working Group Chair Milica Radovic, and members Maja Gojkovic and Nedjo Jovanovic.

The sitting was chaired by Petar Petrovic, Committee Chairman.
