19th Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality

At the sitting held on 22 December, the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality reviewed the Republic of Serbia 2015 Budget Bill - section 3, chapter 3.19 – Office for Human and Minority Rights, submitted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.

The sitting was attended by the Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Suzana Paunovic.

Following a short discussion, the Committee members decided, by majority vote, to propose that the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending submit an amendment to the Republic of Serbia 2015 Budget Bill - section 3, chapter 3.19 – Office for Human and Minority Rights, which would secure 373,907,000 RSD for the Office for Human and Minority Rights from the budget (source 01), viz. the same amount allocated by the Republic of Serbia 2014 Budget Law. The Committee members believe that the funds allocated in the Budget Bill are insufficient in view of the considerable increase in the work the Office is to tackle within the opening of chapter 23 of the EU talks and the assumed international obligations and United Nations treaty bodies.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Meho Omerovic.
