17th Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee

At the sitting held on 3 November 2025, the Culture and Information Committee considered and ruled on the List of Candidates for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media.

The Chairperson of the Culture and Information Committee, Nevena Djuric, reminded the Committee members that on 22 October 2025, on behalf of 58 civil society organisations, the Civic Initiatives Association sent a letter with comments regarding the determination of the final proposal of two candidates for members of the REM Council, on behalf of the group of National Councils of National Minorities.

"Taking into account all the facts and circumstances, I believe that the procedure so far has been carried out in accordance with the letter and spirit of the law. However, at the same time, I can conclude that the most appropriate thing at this time would be that the existing doubts and negative consequences of the challenging of the procedure for the determination of the final proposal of two candidates for members of the REM Council, before the structures of the national councils of national minorities, be removed. Therefore, I propose that the List of Candidates be amended in the part relating to the authorised proposer of the national councils of national minorities, i.e. that the above objection be upheld.

"I agree with this, and based on the notes from the meeting, I propose that the votes of only three authorised proposers be respected, namely the National Council of the Hungarian National Minority, the Bosniak National Council, and the National Council of the Albanian National Minority," said the Committee Chairperson.

The Committee adopted, by majority vote, the amendment to the final List of Candidates for the election of members of the Council of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media, related to the structure of the National Councils of National Minorities, as an authorised proposer.

The Committee also adopted the decision on the new time and place of the public interview with the proposed candidates for Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media Council members. It decided that the Public Hearing on the topic: Public interview with the proposed candidates for Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media Council members will be held on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, starting at noon, in the National Assembly Building, 14 Kralja Milana Street.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Nevena Djuric and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Mgr Akos Ujhelyi, Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, Rastislav Dinic, Jovan Janjic, Tatjana Nikolic, Nebojsa Bakarec, Branimir Jovanovic, Dunja Simonovic Bratic, MA Jadranka Jovanovic, Dusan Maric, Lepomir Ivkovic and Ljubica Vranes.
