15th Sitting of the European Integration Committee

At the sitting held on 21 May 2021, the European Integration Committee considered in principle the Bill on Protection of Trade Secrets, submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by Assistant Minister of Economy Dusan Vuckovic who said the Law on Protection of Trade Secrets has been in force since 2011 and the Bill harmonises the system of protection of trade secrets with the relevant regulations of the European Union - Directive 2016/943 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2016 on the protection of undisclosed know-how and business information (trade secrets) against their unlawful acquisition, use and disclosure.

Vuckovic said that the protection of trade secrets protects the economic entities’ investment into the acquisition, development and application of know-how that secures them a competitive edge.

The Committee members proposed, by a majority vote, that the National Assembly accept the Bill on Protection of Trade Secrets in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Elvira Kovacs, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Samira Cosovic, Ljiljana Malusic, Enis Imamovic, Goran Milic, Viktor Jevtovic, Miroslav Kondic, Stanislava Janosevic, Vesna Rankovic, Dijana Radovic and Ana Pesic.
