14th Sitting of the Security Services Control Committee

At the sitting held on 8 December, the Security Services Control Committee discussed, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Law on the Security Information Agency, submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by Miroslav Panic, advisor to the director of the Security Information Agency, saying that the Bill contains norms establishing the employment status of the members of the Security Information Agency. The grounds to pass the Bill come from the fact that according to Article 20 of the 2002 Law on the Security Information Agency the employment status of the members of the Security Information Agency is regulated by the Law on Police. There is now a need to amend the Law on the Security Information Agency since a new Law on Police was passed, because the Security Information Agency is a national service and has a scope of duties different from that of the police, said Panic. He added that the amendments and modifications regulate the rights and duties of the members of the Security Information Agency, as well as employment, titles, promotion and temporary and permanent placements. The Security Information Agency has a very specific organization and requires a specific set of norms, Panic concluded.

Following a debate the Committee members accepted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on the Security Information Agency in principle.

The sittings were chaired by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic, and attended by the following Committee members: Vladimir Djukanovic, Zvonimir Djokic, Branislav Mihajlovic, Marija Obradovic, Meho Omerovic, Dragan Sormaz, Radoslav Milojicic, Vladan Zagradjanin, Prof. Dr Zoran Dragisic and Sasa Radulovic.
