13th Sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government
At the sitting held on 26 March 2023, the members of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government established the proposal of two candidates for the first election of members of the High Judicial Council elected by the National Assembly.
In accordance with the established proposal of candidates for the first election of members of the High Judicial Council elected by the National Assembly, Zikica Dronjak from Novi Sad and Natasa Delic from Belgrade were added to the six candidates from the previous sitting. The Committee will submit the eight proposed candidates’ CVs to the National Assembly.
The Committee then voted for Dusan Puric from Belgrade for the proposal of candidates for the first election of members of the High Prosecutorial Council elected by the National Assembly, in addition to the seven candidates elected at the 12th sitting of the Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government. The Committee will submit the eight proposed candidates’ CVs to the National Assembly.
The Committee then adopted the Decision on the organisation of a public hearing for the purpose of presentation of the candidates for the first election of members of the High Judicial Council elected by the National Assembly and the candidates for the first election of members of the High Prosecutorial Council elected by the National Assembly. The public hearing will be held in the National Assembly on Saturday, 1 April 2023, staring at 10 am, in the Small Hall.
The Committee also considered the Proposal of the Decision on the election of court presidents, submitted by the High Judicial Council. High Judicial Council member Snezana Bjelogrlic then presented the Decision Proposal and the CVs of Milana Stojevic, judge of the Higher Court in Vranje for the election of President of the Higher Court in Vranje, and Tomislav Trajkovic, judge of the Appellate Court in Nis for the election of President of the Basic Court in Prokuplje. Following a discussion, the Committee proposed that the National Assembly accept the High Judicial Council’s Decision Proposal.
The Committee went on to consider the Proposal of the Decision on the election of judges to judicial office for the first time submitted by the High Judicial Council. Snezana Bjelogrlic presented the CVs of the 35 candidates for the election of judges to judicial office for the first time and the Committee proposed that the National Assembly accept the High Judicial Council’s Decision Proposal.
The Committee on the Judiciary, Public Administration and Local Self-Government established the Proposal of the decision on the termination of office of President of the Misdemeanour Court in Valjevo of Zoran Stefanovic.
The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Vladimir Djukanovic and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Svetozar Vujacic, Dijana Radovic, Dubravka Kralj, Bratimir Vasiljevic, Milica Nikolic, Prof. Dr Jelena Jerinic, Djordje Komlenski, Jelena Milosevic, Andrijana Vasic, Vladimir Gajic, Jovan Palalic, Miodrag Gavrilovic, Dejan Sulkic, Ilo Mihajlovski and Dr Balint Pasztor.
