10th Sitting of the Environmental Protection Committee

At the sitting held on 16 March, the members of the Environmental Protection Committee reviewed the Ministry of Environmental Protection Activity Information for the period November and December 2017 and January 2018.


State Secretary Dr Branislav Blazic and associates from all the sectors of the relevant Ministry presented the Activity Information. They agreed that the Committee’s scope should be expanded to include, in addition to its control role, working with the Ministry to help in the overall environmental protection efforts.

The officials spoke about protecting forest ecosystems against global warming, air quality in Serbia, protecting the environment from overuse of plastic bags, toxic waste, unregulated landfills and EU Negotiating Chapter 27 – Environment, which should be opened around the middle of the year.

Following a discussion the Committee accepted the Ministry of Environmental Protection Activity Information by majority vote.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairperson Ivana Stojiljkovic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Ivana Nikolic, Dr Ljubinko Rakonjac, Borisav Kovacevic, Milena Turk, Radoslav Cokic, Jasmina Karanac, Milos Boskovic, Prof. Dr Snezana Bogosavljevic Boskovic, Dusko Tarbuk, Borka Grubor, Gordana Comic, Sonja Vlahovic and Vladimir Petkovic. The sitting was also attended by representatives of the network of NGOs who take part in the Committee’s work through the Green Chair mechanism.
