10th Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality

At the sitting held on 26 October 2021, the members of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality considered, in principle, the Bill on the Ombudsman, submitted by the Government.

The Bill was presented by Maja Macuzic Puzic, State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, who said that it raised the level of independence of the institution of Ombudsman and creates the preconditions to boost its efficiency, in turn advancing human rights in Serbia and ensuring additional democratisation of the society.

Following a brief debate, the Committee unanimously accepted the Bill on the Ombudsman in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Dr Muamer Bacevac, and was attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Vesna Stjepanovic, Andrijana Avramov, Dragana Brankovic Mincic, Jelena Mihailovic, Dr Nina Pavicevic, Stefan Srbljanovic, Vesna Knezevic, Nikola Kozovic, Nebojsa Bakarec, Vesna Nedovic and Dejan Stosic.
