Thirty-Sixth Sitting of the Culture and Information Committee
At the Culture and Information Committee sitting held on 5 July 2011, the Minister of Culture, Information and Information Society Predrag Markovic presented the Bills on the agenda for the Sixth Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly in 2011 to the Committee members, viz.: the Bill on Library Information Activity, Bill on Old and Rare Library Material and the Bill on Mandatory Publication Copy, submitted by the Government.
Minister Markovic said that these Bills cover three areas which enable an adequate care for our cultural heritage and at the same time respond to modern technological requirements. Since the National Library of Serbia was reconstructed creating the technical conditions to improve the quality of the library’s work, this set of laws also regulates the legal framework.
In the debate following Minister Markovic’s explanation, the Committee members commended the quality of the Bills which define this particular area of culture in a precise and clear manner.
