Sixth Sitting of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications

At the sitting held on 11 July, the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications deliberated on the Report of the Government of the Republic of Serbia on the natural disaster – flood suffered by the Republic of Serbia and measures employed to save the population and defend the threatened areas from the flood.


The Report was presented by State Secretary at the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Dejan Trifunovic and Assistant Minister Leposava Sojic, and representative of the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Slavenka Mijuskovic.

Trifunovic said that the direct damage to infrastructural facilities has been estimated at 275.9 million EUR, while the damage in local self-government units, according to the 126 reports submitted, was estimated at 273.8 million EUR. He informed the Committee members of the upcoming consolidation of the aid i.e. European Union and World Bank funds.

The representatives of the two ministries informed the Committee members on all the activities carried out during the state of emergency and other activities employed to rehabilitate the infrastructural facilities and recover the households damaged by the flood.

The Committee members asked about the rehabilitation of the road network at the local level, recovery of bridges, recovery projects, cleaning of canals and waterways and the recruitment of engineering chamber experts to draft rebuilding projects.

Following the debate the Committee accepted the Report and formulated the Conclusion Proposal to be forwarded to the National Assembly with the proposal that it be discussed by urgent procedure.

The sitting was chaired by Milutin Mrkonjic, Committee Chairman.
