Sitting of the Honorary Board of the Tour of Serbia 2006 International Bicycle Race

Predrag Markovic, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and chairman of the Honorary Board of the Tour of Serbia 2006 International Bicycle Race, today chaired a sitting of the Honorary Board in Belgrade.



Predrag Markovic, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and chairman of the Honorary Board of the Tour of Serbia 2006 International Bicycle Race, today chaired a sitting of the Honorary Board in Belgrade. The sitting was held to acquaint a delegation of the organising body and Board members with preparations held and activities planned for the event.

To mark the Race’s sixty-seventh anniversary, members of the Honorary Board of last year’s event were presented with memorial plaques by Race officials. The plaques were authorised by the Race Assembly’s decision adopted on 26 February 2006.

This year the Tour of Serbia race will last six days; cyclists from 20 nations will travel through 95 Serbian cities, towns and villages along a route more than 1200 kilometres long.

The Honorary Board is this year made up of the Chairman of the National Assembly, Predrag Markovic (as chairman of the Honorary Board); the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, Miroljub Labus; the Minister of Trade, Tourism and Services, Bojan Dimitrijevic (as chairman of the Steering Committee); the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Radovan Jelasic; the Minister of Capital Investment, Velimir Ilic; the Minister of Education and Sports, Slobodan Vuksanovic; the Minister of the Interior, Dragan Jocic, and the Director of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation, Aleksandar Tijanic. Committee members representing the sporting side of the event are Borivoje Ivkovic, race organisation head, and cycling legend Rados Cubric.
