Seventh Sitting of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy

At the sitting, held on 23 November, the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy considered, in principle, the Bill on Public Enterprises, submitted by the Government.


State Secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economy Aleksandar Ljubic stated that the core changes that the Bill introduces are public competition for the selection of managers of public enterprises and the establishment of supervisory boards instead of management boards in order to ensure departisation and professionalisation of the work of public enterprises.
Following the debate, in which the Committee members asked for more detailed explanations of some of the provisions of the Bill, the Committee accepted the Bill on Public Enterprises, in principle, by a majority of votes.
At the sitting, the Committee also considered the Bill amending and modifying the Republic of Serbia Development Fund Law, submitted by the Government. State Secretary Ljubic said that the proposed amendments and modifications to the Bill pertain to harmonisation with the Law on Ministries. The Bill stipulates that the amount of guarantees issued by the Fund should be established by the Government. The Committee accepted the Bill, in principle, by a majority of votes.
The Committee members went on to consider, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Privatisation Law, submitted by the Government. State Secretary Ljubic said that the Bill sets a deadline for enforced performances toward enterprises in restructuring. Following a debate, the Committee accepted the Bill, in principle, by a majority of votes.
