Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009

The Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009, convened by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, at the request of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, started on Wednesday, 3 June 2009, at 3. 30 p. m. The Request to hold the session sets the following agenda: 1. The Decision Proposal on the Participation of Ministry of Defence and Serbian Army Medical Service Professionals within the Norwegian contingent of the United Nations Peace Mission to the Republic of Chad and Central African Republic (MINURCAT).



The Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009, convened by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, at the request of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, started on Wednesday, 3 June 2009, at 3.30 p.m.

The Request to hold the session sets the following agenda:

1. The Decision Proposal on the Participation of Ministry of Defence and Serbian Army Medical Service Professionals within the Norwegian contingent of the United Nations Peace Mission to the Republic of Chad and Central African Republic (MINURCAT).

Elaborating the Decision Proposal, Minister of Defence Sutanovac stressed that the engagement of Ministry of Defence and Serbian Army medical service professionals within the Norwegian contingent of the United Nations Peace Mission to the Republic of Chad and Central African Republic is important for the foreign policy reputation of the Republic of Serbia. The Law on the Army defines the Serbian Army’s three missions of which participation in peace operations is the most significant from the aspect of foreign policy. Norway inviting the Serbian team to participate in its contingent in peace operations is a sign of the respect this country has for Serbian doctors and health care system.

In the discussion, the deputies made various objections to the Decision Proposal. By the end of the day, the National Assembly had completed the unified discussion on the only item on the agenda for the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly in 2009.

Since the National Assembly had competed the unified discussion on the Decision Proposal on the Participation of Ministry of Defence and Serbian Army Medical Service Professionals within the Norwegian contingent of the United Nations Peace Mission to the Republic of Chad and Central African Republic (MINURCAT), the National Assembly Speaker, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic set Tuesday, 9 June, as Voting Day on the only item on the agenda for the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly in 2009, beginning at 10.20 a.m.

On Voting Day, 9 June, the National Assembly voted on the only item on the agenda for the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009

By 129 votes in favour, the National Assembly adopted the Decision Proposal on the Participation of Ministry of Defence and Serbian Army Medical Service Professionals within the Norwegian contingent of the United Nations Peace Mission to the Republic of Chad and Central African Republic (MINURCAT).

On Voting Day, the National Assembly ruled on the violation of the Rules of Procedure deputy Milos Aligrudic complained of during the sitting and decided that the Rules of Procedure had not been violated.

Since the National Assembly had completed the discussion on the only item on the agenda and ruled on it, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, concluded the Seventh Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2009.
